En aften blev det da et frygteligt vejr;
ある夜，　ひどい天気になりました。
One evening it was terrible weather.
One evening a terrible storm came on;
ある夜，　嵐がやってきました。
デンマーク語
vejr = weather 　　英語は形容詞が　weather を限定すると無冠詞　(terrible weather)。　デンマーク語では不定冠詞(et)がある。


det lynede og tordnede, regnen skyllede ned, det var ganske forskrækkeligt.
稲妻が光り雷が鳴って雨がざあざあぶりでそれは本当に恐ろしいことでした。
It lightened and thundered, the rain poured down, it was very frightening.
there was thunder and lightning, and the rain poured down in torrents.
稲妻が光り雷が鳴って雨がざあざあぶりでした。
デンマーク語
-ede は動詞の過去形を表す。　
英語
原文の　det var ganske forskrækkeligt. は訳出されていない。
原文は天気をあらわす　it にあたる　det を主語にした文だが英語は　there is 構文になっている。


Så bankede det på byens port,
すると城壁の門を叩く音がしました。　
Then someone knocked on the city gate,
Suddenly a knocking was heard at the city gate,
突然町の城壁の門を叩く音がしました。

倒置文。
主語の　det は不特定の人を表している。　
英語
不特定の人を表す　det の文なので受動態にしている。




og den gamle konge gik hen at lukke op.
それで老いた王様は門を開けに行きました。
and the old king went there to open it.

それで老いた王様は門を開けに行きました。

lukke は「閉じる」　　lukke op は「開ける」


Det var en prinsesse, som stod udenfor.
外に立っていたのは王女様だったのです。
It was a princess who was standing outside.
It was a princess standing out there in front of the gate.
門の前に立っていたのは王女様だったのです。

udenfor 　外で
デンマーク語は英語の分詞の形容詞的用法がなく関係代名詞で代用する。
過去形が過去進行形の意味も表すことができる。


Men Gud hvor hun så ud af regnen og det onde vejr!
しかし，おやまあ，　雨やらひどい天気やらで王女はなんという姿をしていたことでしょう。
But, good gracious! how he looked by the rain and bad weather!
But, good gracious! what a sight the rain and the wind had made her look.
しかし，おやまあ，雨や風が王女をなんという姿にさせていたことでしょう。
デンマーク語
Gud = God   英語と同じく間投詞にもなる。
så は　se ＝ see の過去形。　　see ud で英語の　look ＋形容詞　にあたる表現。
hvor は感嘆文を作る　how と同じ。
英語
感嘆文。
make は使役動詞。


Vandet løb ned af hendes hår og hendes klæder,
雨水が髪や服から流れていました。
The water was running down from her hair and her clothes.
The water ran down from her hair and clothes;
雨水が髪や服から流れていました。
英語とデンマーク語はほぼ対応している。


og det løb ind af næsen på skoen og ud af hælen,
さらに靴のつま先に雨水が入り，　踵から出て行きました。
and it was running in off the toes of the shoes and out off the heels.
it ran down into the toes of her shoes and out again at the heels.
さらに靴のつま先に雨水が入り，　踵から出て行きました。
英語とデンマーク語はほぼ対応している。


og så sagde hun, at hun var en virkelig prinsesse.
そして王女は私こそ本当の王女だと言ったのでした。
And then she said that she was a real princess.
And yet she said that she was a real princess.
しかし王女は私こそ本当の王女だと言ったのでした。

at はここでは英語の接続詞　that と同じ。



“Ja, det skal vi nok få at vide!” tænkte den gamle dronning,
「そのうちわかるわ。」と老いた女王は思いました。
"Well, we"ll get to know it!" thought the old queen.
“Well, we'll soon find that out,” thought the old queen.
「すぐにわかるわ。」と老いた女王は思いました。

倒置文。　det は本来は　vide (知る）の目的語。
ここの　at は英語の不定詞の　to と同じ。
få at　＋動詞　= get to 不定詞


men hun sagde ikke noget, gik ind i sovekamret, tog alle sengeklæderne af og lagde en ært på bunden af sengen,
しかし女王は何も言わずに寝室に入るとすべての寝具を外しベッドの底にエンドウ豆を一つ置きました。
But she didn't say anything, went into the bedroom, took all he bedding off,  and laid a pea on the bottom of the bed.
But she said nothing, went into the bed-room, took all the bedding off the bedstead, and laid a pea on the bottom;
しかし女王は何も言わずに寝室に入るとすべての寝具を外しベッドの底にエンドウ豆を一つ置きました。

sagde = said ,   lagde = laid,   gik = went,   tog = took
最初の　af (tog alle ssengeklæderne af ) は　off ，　2つ目の af (bunden af sengen) は　of にあたる。


derpå tog hun tyve madrasser, lagde dem oven på ærten, og så endnu tyve edderdunsdyner oven på madrasserne.
それから20枚のマットレスを取って来て，　それらをエンドウ豆の上に置き，　さらに20枚のケワタガモの羽毛のキルトをマットレスの上に敷きました。

derpå はドイツ語の　darauf にあたる。


Dér skulle nu prinsessen ligge om natten.
その上で王女はその夜，　寝ないといけなかったのです。
Now the princess had to lie there during the night.
On this the princess had to lie all night.
その上で王女はその夜，　寝ないといけなかったのです。
デンマーク語
倒置文。
dér は「そこ」と強調しているのでアクセント付き。
